Ourmedia

It looks like this personal media revolution is starting to reach a critical mass. I have been slowly readying a video blog of my own to unleash on you all. However, I see on slashdot the creation of ourmedia. I was planning on hosting my videos on archive.org anyway. I guess a lot of people were doing that. Ourmedia just streamlines the whole process. Good show.

Of course, I am skeptical about this centralized repository model. But, it does have its advantages also. I am thinking both the way it is easier for communities to spring up in a centralized model (think flickr tags), as well as most current software is based on the central server model.

My skepticism is only bolstered by the fact that the site is currently not responding.

If ANT could seamlessly support blog torrent, then that would really be cooking!

This is just one of those times when I am giddy over new applications of technology.

video log entries

As promised, here are some video log entries to try. This is just some sampling of some stuff that I have watched in the last couple weeks.

(It occurs to me that going to each of the links below in your browser and watching the video will undoubtedly not give you the same effect as watching them all as one long stream like you would in ANT. For example, the arty farty clips below are not that note worthy out of this context, however, as a small interuption in a stream of other more traditional videos, they become much more surreal and beautiful)

Talking with the people

Rocketboom calls some bar

A message from Doug...

Young Tibetan Activists

For a very strange reason, that I cannot fully grasp, I kinda like this one

Arty Farty
Arty Farty II

Keep TV Free

Garrett Lambert's Robot Hand

Some other thing from rocketboom.

Fat Pie

If you haven't checked out the flash movies on Fat-Pie yet, I suggest you do so. Start by watching the Video dating tape, then the salad fingers saga, starting with part 1.

Ant and Vlogging

Lately I have been playing around with ant. I like it. I think video blogging might have potentional.. MIGHT. I never got into podcasting that much. I love the idea. I never found content that jazzed me that much. I have been little jazzed by some of the video content. I will try to post some of those links later.

I always thought crap on public access tv was kinda interesting... so video blogging is like anyone on the internet having their own show... and ant is like giving everyone a tivo to watch any of these shows when they want. I think there is probably some person out there will raise the art of vlogging to the next level. I don't think it has happened yet, but I am looking forward to that day.

UPDATE: I am starting to think that maybe the art of vlogging is quite a bit more elevated than I originally though.
