Perhaps the glorious dream of a transformers quasi live action movie could be glorious in reality as well?
Also, what is the deal with Soundwave? He transforms into a tape player! I don't think I ever fully appreciated how odd that is until just now.
If you'd like to know more about soundwave, there is the Tribute to Soundwave.
I especially liked the author's description of Soundwavespace.
That commercial rules! Seriously though, the soundwavespace section is...touching. Of course it came from a MUSHer.

Posted by: brad at November 23, 2004 09:40 AMYou mistake the fact that I must qualify everything I write with "seriously though" with mockery. Only half true!
Posted by: Avec Ships at November 23, 2004 10:01 AMI was actually taking issue with your condescending tone towards MUSHers.
Not really.

Admit it. Yeah really.
Posted by: Avec Ships at November 23, 2004 12:38 PMOk fine, I admit it: They are not the hell your whales.
Posted by: brad at November 23, 2004 12:57 PMwhy was it that in addition to his ability to transform, soundwave could also go from small to huge..or was he just not shown in proportion... he should have been the tiniest trandsformer..next to those little cassette transformers he kept inside of his body.... though megatron should also have been tiny. this is why i have no business talking about transformers... i am unable to reconcile change in size amongst transforming robots.
Posted by: luther at November 23, 2004 01:47 PMThe change in size (and mass) is probably the most technilogically advanced feature of the transformers. Megatron could transform into a gun that another transformer could wield. Also there was Astrotrain and Skyfire- normal sized bots that transformed into vehicles big enough for other transformers to ride in.
I think it would have been much more interesting to have the leader of the Decepticons be mega tiny next to the other transformers than to use the mass shifting.
The disconnect between the size of transformers in "biped" mode versus "disguise" mode bothered me even when I was a kid. The truth is that none of them were proportional to their disguise. Even bumblebee got super huge when he transformed.
Posted by: Avec Ships at November 23, 2004 03:08 PMBumblebee also had viking-esque horns. What's up with that?
I wonder if the new transformers movie which allegedly is being worked on will pass the patriotically correct thought police. Think of it, Autobots and decepticons battling over the natural resources of our planet, turning our whole planet into a battleground to benefit distant nations? Sounds a little familiar, doesn't it? Will Optimus Prime liberate us blue states?
